The SDC 2008/09 Draft Annual Budget

SUBMISSIONS INVITED

Full copies and summaries of the draft annual budget are now available from our service centres and libraries and here.

Guided by the outcomes (or goals) set by the community in our Selwyn Community Plan (or LTCCP), the budget:

• proposes a work programme of projects, services and activities to help achieve the outcomes

• sets out the performance targets for Council’s services and activities

• proposes how to pay for the work through a mix of rates, fees, charges and investment income.

Please have a read and if you have any comments to make on the proposals, or ideas about better ways of achieving the community outcomes, write them down and send them to us.

All interested people are invited to a public meeting on the draft budget on Thursday 15 May at 7.30pm in the Rolleston Community Centre.

Submissions

Written submissions must reach us by 5pm on Friday 30 May 2008.

Hearings will be held on 13 and 16 June 2008. Please say in your submission whether or not you wish to come to a hearing and talk to the councillors about your submission.

Following the hearings, the council will discuss the ideas submitted and then make its final amendments to the budget.

The annual budget will then be adopted and will become operational on 1 July 2008.
