Dog Registration for 2007-2008
Just as with your car registration, it is
your responsibility to ensure that your dog is registered. The
penalties for non-registration can be expensive. All dogs older than 3
months must be registered every year beginning 1 July.
Re-registration notices will arrive in
mailboxes from 1 July. Owners will then have a month in which to make
their best friends legal.
Registration Fees (inclusive of GST)
The 2007-08 fee falls due on 1 July
2007 and may be paid at the service centres in Leeston, Darfield,
Lincoln or Rolleston, or in the prepaid return envelope provided with
your registration form.
You cannot pay electronically, i.e.
through Internet or telebanking.

Change of Address
If you have changed address since last
year’s registration, please contact us to confirm your current address.
Tag and Collar Fees (Inclusive of GST)
The fee for a replacement dog tag is $5
and for a dog collar $6-$8 depending on size.
Seizure Fee (inclusive of GST)
If an Animal Control Officer seizes a
wandering dog and returns it to the owner, the officer can charge a
seizure fee of $45.
Impoundment Fees (Inclusive of GST)
If the Council’s Animal Control Officers
impound a dog, the following fees will apply:

an administration fee of $11.25 per
impounding

a feeding fee of $25 per dog per day
or part thereof

officer’s time at $36 per hour
-
vehicle mileage of $0.62 per kilometre

(where applicable) a destruction fee
of $11.25

Sections 62(5), 65, 74(3) and 95 of the Dog Control Act 1996.
