Roundabout changes affecting Goulds Road

From 1 August

Following the completion of the Broadlands Drive extension and the installation of a new roundabout at its intersection with Springston Rolleston Road intersection, the Goulds Road leg of the Lowes Road/ Tennyson Street roundabout will be closed to traffic from Monday 1 August onwards. The change is being made as an interim measure to improve the roundabouts safety as vehicle numbers using it have increased faster than expected. The reduced traffic using Goulds Road will also make this a safer walking and cycling route for pedestrians and cyclists. Broadlands Drive was planned from the outset to provide a key route to cater for traffic growth in this area of Rolleston that also links together community facilities together.

From 1 August onwards, access to the south end of Goulds Road will be through Broadlands Drive. The existing roundabout at Lowes Road/Tennyson Street will be replaced in 2019/20 with traffic signals that will further improve traffic safety and will provide an improved crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.

Please take care around road works. Thank you.

Please Note:

Due to an increase in demand for swim school lessons, we are only able to offer ONE LANE for public lane swimming between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. This only applies during the school terms and not during the school holidays.
