Dog control officer microchipping a puppyAll dogs must have a microchip ID tag implanted beneath their skin if their first registration in New Zealand was on or after 1 July 2006.

Once a month our Animal Control team provides free microchipping clinics at our service centres in Rolleston, Lincoln, Leeston and Darfield. The last microchipping clinic for this year is Friday 8 December at:

  • Darfield Library and Service Centre: 9–9.30am
  • Rolleston Council building: 10.15–10.45am
  • Lincoln Library and Service Centre: 11.30am–12pm
  • Leeston Library and Service Centre: 12.45–1.15pm

Clinics last for only 30 minutes. Microchipping won’t occur if wet. If, because of distance or dog numbers, you can't get to a clinic, contact us on 347 2910 or at animalcontrol@selwyn.govt.nz, to make other arrangements.
