Youth Council funds on offer

The Selwyn Youth Council has launched a new Youth Project Fund.

Selwyn Youth Council members are excited to offer the new discretionary fundThe fund is available to provide support for groups or individuals whose projects, events or activities help to strengthen youth wellbeing in Selwyn.

The total available fund established by the Youth Council for 2017/18 is $5,500 plus GST.

Ella McClure, Chair of the Selwyn District Youth Council, says the discretionary fund is one of the first of its kind in New Zealand local government. “The allocation and administration of the funds is completely at the discretion of the Youth Council, for the benefit of our peers in the district,” she says.

The Youth Council will assess the applications and distribute the funds as they see appropriate at their monthly meeting. Selwyn Youth Council meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month (except January). Applications must be submitted by the 20th of the previous month.
