A total of $40,000 is available to support projects by owners of heritage buildings or protected trees. The fund will cover part of the cost of a project, which may include restoring, reinforcing and protecting heritage buildings, trees or other structures that have historical or cultural importance. Applicants will need to fund some of the cost from other sources.

In 2016 the Selwyn Heritage Fund assisted 15 projects across the district, including the bell tower refurbishment of St George's Anglican Church, Kirwee, Tai Tapu School heritage oak tree pruning, the relocation of Mary's Cottage in Southbridge, and the reconstruction of the brick fence at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Leeston.

Priority is given to items listed in the Selwyn District Plan. Funding cannot be used for routine maintenance, or for improvements which are of personal or commercial benefit.

Applicants need to include at least two quotes from suitably qualified tradespeople for the cost of the work involved.

Applications close on Friday 20 October 2017.

Visit or email for information and an application form.
