Proposed Selwyn District
Council Liquor Licensing Policy
SUBMISSIONS INVITED
Submissions are invited on the
proposed Liquor Licensing Policy for Selwyn
District. The draft policy was adopted by the Council on 27
February 2008 as a basis for public consultation, pursuant
to the special consultative procedure under the Local
Government Act 2002.
A final policy will be adopted following public submissions.
The submission period ends at 5pm on Friday, 11 April
2008.
The draft policy has been developed to support the primary
objectives of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989. These objectives
are to establish a reasonable system of control over the
sale and supply of liquor with the aims of contributing to
the reduction of alcohol abuse as far as can be achieved by
legislative means.
Matters addressed in the draft policy include:
-
the process of licence
issue,
-
host responsibility,
-
indicative hours of
operation,
-
designated areas,
-
requirements for special
licences and
-
managers and monitoring.
