HOW TO GET
PUBLISHED IN COUNCIL CALL
Advisory committee meeting
notices should be sent to
Sue Elder (347 2800 or
318 8338). Meeting notices should be with Sue by Thursday noon of the week
preceding publication.
All other notices
should be sent to
editor@selwyn.govt.nz
Volunteer group notices
Volunteer groups (other than sporting, religious or
political bodies) may submit short notices for publication in Council Call,
subject to the following criteria.
-
Notices must include a contact name plus phone number
or email address.
-
Notices must reach the editor no later than noon on the
Thursday before the week of publication.
-
Notices should be brief, factual, and written
impersonally in the third
person (i.e. "they" not "we", "the committee" not "our committee").
-
Logos will generally not be published, except where
they add important information or visual content to the notice.
-
Photos will be published if space allows and their
quality and size are suitable for newspaper publication (500kb to 2MB).
Please do not embed photos in Word documents - send them separately.
-
Notices should be submitted in Word or text files (not
Publisher or PDFs).
-
The Editor may edit any notice for length, language or
style.
-
Where space is limited, council notices have precedence
over volunteer notices.
-
Where space is limited, volunteer notices will be prioritised as follows:
-
events or activities which have explicit Council
support or collaboration (e.g. a Creative NZ grant) will have priority over those which do not;
-
notices which require a response or action from the
public will have priority over notices which merely provide information;
-
notices which have a broad public audience will
have priority over notices with a narrow audience; and
-
events or deadlines scheduled for earlier dates
will have precedence over those scheduled for later dates.
For editorial and delivery matters, please contact
The Editor (347 2800 or 318 8338).
