PUBLIC NOTICE OF REQUIREMENT
BY THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION

Selwyn District Council has received
notice of a
requirement for a designation from the Minister of
Education.
The Minister, as the Requiring Authority, is
seeking to designate an area of 1.5977 hectares for education purposes to enable its continued use as a
primary school site and its potential use for early childhood schooling
should the need arise in the future.
Therefore, the purpose of the designation is to be
noted in the Selwyn District Plan as ‘Education Purposes (Early
Childhood and Primary School)’.
The site is at 14-20 Leeston Road, Springston and its legal
description is Part Lot 7 DP 11913, and Lots 24, 25 and 26 DP 16823. The
land, which is owned by the Ministry of Education, is zoned Living 1 and
is currently used as a primary school.

in Darfield, Leeston, Lincoln and Rolleston.
Submissions
Any person or organisation may make a submission to the Selwyn District
Council supporting or opposing the designation.
Submissions must be in writing and in accordance with
Form 21 of the Resource
Management Regulations, which is available from any Council service
centre or here.

to: a Council Service centre in Darfield, Lincoln, Leeston or
Rolleston.

As soon as you can, after lodging your submission with the
Council, a copy must be sent to the Requiring Authority at:

At a later date, all submissions received will be reviewed and the Council will
make a recommendation to the Requiring Authority.
The Requiring Authority will then accept or reject the
recommendation in whole or part.
If submitters or the Council are not satisfied with the
Requiring Authority’s decision they may then appeal to the Environment Court.
