The council services provided by
the Selwyn District Council are funded
in a variety of ways:
-
rates levied on the value of each property;
-
user-pays charges;
-
grants and subsidies from Government; and
-
income from commercial investments (in forestry, energy and
construction).
The rates we levy depend in part on the value of each
property and in part on the services we provide in each rating area (e.g.
libraries, refuse collection, sewerage, water races).

You can pay your rates by cash, card, cheque or direct
debit. For the direct debit option, download our

Property Valuations
Properties are revalued every three years to
determine their rating value. The latest revaluation by Quotable Value Ltd give land and capital values for every property as of 1 July
2006.
Please note: these valuations are used for rating purposes
but, because the property market is constantly changing, they are not the best
indicator of current market value.
