Enquiry about someone

Seeking information about family or friends

During an emergency it is not uncommon for the power, phone and road services to be damaged. Just because you cannot reach someone does not necessarily mean that they need help. However if you do have reason for concern, please contact us and we will attempt to contact that person for you. NOTE that depending on the scale and nature of the emergency we may need to prioritise these requests with other requests for assistance.

Evacuated Areas

This applies where the Emergency Event Update page(s) indicate evacuations are occuring.

Most people who self evacuate or are asked to evacuate an area make their own arrangements for accommodation etc. For those not able to make these arrangements Civil Defence Emergency Management will assist. Usually these people are taken to a local Civil Defence Emergency Centre or Emergency Welfare Centre from where their needs are assessed and help will be provided.

A registration process has been developed which helps enable us to identify the welfare issues people have. The registration process means that if you are trying to track the location of a friend or family member who has evacuated we maybe able to provide assistance in locating them.

During a large emergency the Red Cross operates a database of those people who have registered for assistance. You can make a request for information from the database to help find a friend or family member. NOTE the Council will be able to advise if the Red Cross database is operating. When the database has been activated an enquiry phone number will be made available.
