After the success of last year’s inaugural CultureFest event, we are back to celebrate Selwyn's growing diversity!

the variety of cultures and ethnic groups now discovering Selwyn as a great place to live, work and play!

CultureFest 2017 will showcase everything great about our growing diversity, as well as our own NZ culture, through fantastic group performances on our main stage, arts, crafts, as well as activities and dances you can participate in.  While you walk around the event site enjoying everything the makes Selwyn great, why not let your senses take control, with the wonderful smells of many culinary delights from around the world!

There is so much for the entire family to experience including bouncy castles, Pedalmania, SNAG Golf, farm demonstrations, music, vehicles and much, much more.

Selwyn District Council, in partnership with, Christchurch Multicultural Council, Canterbury Migrant Centre and Rotary Club of Lincoln are proud to bring you CultureFest 2017.


The Sheffield Book Exchange
Date/Time: Every third Sunday of the month, 12-3pm

Bring a book and exchange it for another.

We would love to see as many locals there as possible to support this wonderful community initiative. We also welcome any donations of books.

The Breeze Walking Festival – Selwyn walks

Take a breath of fresh air in over 50 free walks in Selwyn, Christchurch and Waimakariri as part of the Breeze Walking Festival from 30 September – 15 October.

Three walks are taking place in the Selwyn District in a vast range of environments:

Rakaia Gorge Experience - Tuesday 3 October, 10am-4pm

This walkway passes through several forest and shrub communities and along the rim of the gorge through spectacular geological areas. This walk includes the site of the Snowdon coal mines and remains of equipment used for extraction. The walkway forms a 11km loop back to the start, or enjoy a burst of adrenaline and catch a ride back with Discovery Jet (at attendees expense).

Harts Creek Sneak

This is a fantastic walk surrounded by native bush, flax lined creeks, open views and a wooded swamp boarded walkway. The walkway ends at the Bird Hide, a camouflaged hut for easy viewing of bird and wildlife. It is a return track and takes approximately 20minutes each way and is suitable for buggies.


Prebbleton Craft Group Craft Day
Date/Time: Every second Thursday 7-9pm
Location: Prebbleton Cottage, Cnr Blakes & Springs Road
Presented by: Prebbleton Craft Group

Newly formed Prebbleton Craft Group welcomes people to join them to create a variety of craft projects.

It is an opportunity for people with a passion for craft to connect, share skills and craft together.

Every second Thursday 7-9pm. Gold coin donation - bring whatever craft you are working on.

Project Wild Thing

The movement inspired by the internationally acclaimed documentary, 'Project Wild Thing' is coming to Selwyn!

By 'rewilding' childhood, Project Wild Thing aims to improve children's health, happiness, and respect for the environment through reconnecting with the natural world.

At Selwyn’s Project Wild Thing, Selwyn caregivers will view the documentary while children experience the outdoors with the TimberNook team. The event will also include a farm display, rock skimming, outdoor challenges and more! Optional discounted jet boating and horse back tours at attendees’ cost.

Limited spaces available. For children aged 5–12 years old and up to two caregivers.

Lincoln Road Runners

Tuesdays from 6pm
Starts at:
Lincoln Uni
Routes: 3km & 6km
It is designed to get like minded people together for weekly exercise in a friendly, supportive environment. There is a handicap start so you are running with people of a similar ability. Entry is by gold coin donation. Registration from 5:40pm outside the Lincoln University Recreation Centre.

Ellesmere Road Runners

Wednesdays from 6pm
Starts at:
  Leeston Physiotherapy.
Routes: 3km & 6km
A 3km circuit caters for both walkers and runners. The runs have handicap starts, so you run with people of your own ability. All ages and abilities are welcome.
There is a gold coin entry fee and you enter on the night. 6k runners please be registered by 5.45pm.

Malvern Road Runners

Tuesdays from 6.30pm
Starts at:
  Malvern Netball Centre
Routes: 3km & 6km
Registration begins at 6.10pm and the first of the 6km runners leave at 6.30pm. This race has a handicap start so that you’re running with people of your own ability and all competitors finish around the same time. This caters for all speeds, experience and fitness levels, so don’t be intimidated!
