New World Picnic in the Park & Faringdon Music on the Green Leeston

Enjoy fun family activities at your local domain with the Selwyn Events Trailer, live music, Go-Jump Bouncy Castle Hire, face painting by Beyond the Faerie Tree, Pedalmania, entertainment, and more.

Activities for all ages to get involved in and prizes up for grabs.

Free sausage sizzle and coffee available for purchase. We encourage you to pack a picnic and make an evening of it. Complete the survey during the event and go into the draw to win a $30 Rebel sport voucher announced on the night!

Be entertained with live music at your local green. Bring a picnic and relax while listening to an outstanding line-up of our local talented musicians.

Bouncy castles for the kids, food vendors and hot drinks will also be onsite.

My Tale To Tell Canterbury Oral Histories

My Tale to Tell gives you the chance to record your own personal history.

Join a writing workshop to be held at the Darfield library over six weeks, that will help you to prepare your stories  to be recorded such as family history, school memories, and major events. Participants will then go to the recording studio and record their oral histories to keep and share with family and friends. Stories will also be aired on radio through a new show My Tale to Tell, and be available as a podcast.

No life is ordinary, we all have a tale to tell.

Faringdon Summer Skate Jam Tai Tapu

Date/Time: Wed 28 Feb, 3.30-5.30pm

A great way to introduce children and young people to skating with free gear hire, music and coaching from experienced skaters from Cheapskates Skate Skool.

Prizes up for grabs for a variety of age groups.

This is a relaxed environment which allow participants to give it a go, cheer friends and family on and ease their way into skateboarding! Something for all abilities!

There is a Learn to Skate aspect where participants can hire a skateboard or inline skates as well as safety gear for free and team up with one of Cheapskates Skate Skool friendly instructors and either get some free tips on the basic skills or a helping hand learning some new tricks!

Lincoln Road Runners

Tuesdays from 6pm
Starts at:
Lincoln Uni
Routes: 3km & 6km
It is designed to get like minded people together for weekly exercise in a friendly, supportive environment. There is a handicap start so you are running with people of a similar ability. Entry is by gold coin donation. Registration from 5:40pm outside the Lincoln University Recreation Centre.

Ellesmere Road Runners

Wednesdays from 6pm
Starts at:
  Leeston Physiotherapy.
Routes: 3km & 6km
A 3km circuit caters for both walkers and runners. The runs have handicap starts, so you run with people of your own ability. All ages and abilities are welcome.
There is a gold coin entry fee and you enter on the night. 6k runners please be registered by 5.45pm.

Malvern Road Runners

Tuesdays from 6.30pm
Starts at:
  Malvern Netball Centre
Routes: 3km & 6km
Registration begins at 6.10pm and the first of the 6km runners leave at 6.30pm. This race has a handicap start so that you’re running with people of your own ability and all competitors finish around the same time. This caters for all speeds, experience and fitness levels, so don’t be intimidated!
