If you are a bar owner, club manager, restaurant owner, or own a venue where liquor will be sold, you need to be familiar with the legal requirements that govern the sale of liquor in Selwyn.

If the building is a new building, or has a change of use, the application for the certificate of compliance will need to be completed and included with the licence application, under the Sale of Liquor Act. The building will also require a Code Compliance Certificate and a Certificate of Public Use, under the Building Act. For information on these certificates contact the Building Department, Selwyn District Council, 2 Norman Kirk Drive Rolleston, ph 347 2839.
If the use of the building is changing, you may also need to discuss this with the Planning Department on 347-2868.
