Noise

Current location in the site

Noise may be considered as sound, which provokes subjective response and is commonly described as "unwanted sound".

If a person's attention is unwillingly attracted to noise it may become distracting and annoying and be considered unreasonable. Unwanted sound is not always unreasonable.

The Resource Management Act quantifies excessive noise (section 326, subsection1) to mean: -

'Any noise that is under human control and of such a nature as to unreasonably interfere with the peace, comfort, and convenience of any person (other than the person in or at the place from which the noise is being emitted)'.
