Making Our Roads Safer
This is your opportunity to have your say!

Road crashes impose a massive and unacceptable burden of death, pain and suffering on Selwyn Roads. The road safety strategy is a critical element in the Council's efforts, along with NZ Police and key partners, to reduce crashes and improve road safety. This will be done through a long-term, coordinated framework of projects and programmes.

Our proposed vision is "Zero road deaths and serious injuries on Selwyn roads".  Why? Because we want to be ambitious, we are serious about saving lives. According to Transport and Road Safety Co-ordinator Lee Wright: "The amount of crashes on our roads is unacceptable. We need to take a co-ordinated engineering, enforcement, education approach. We need to further focus on safer vehicles, safer road users, safer speeds, and on safer roads, road sides and intersections".

Attached is a brief discussion leaflet on Road Safety titled 'This is your opportunity to have your say' explaining the key Selwyn road safety areas of high and medium concern, along with some key questions.
