TENNYSON ST / ROLLESTON DRIVE UPGRADE

Rolleston Drive (from Tennyson Street to Masefield Drive) will be widened to a standard 14-metre width and a roundabout will be installed at the Rolleston Drive-Tennyson Street intersection. Among other things, the works will:

• replace the solid central median with a painted median

• put a solid central median on Tennyson Street near the shopping centre to stop vehicles driving straight across the road between car parks

• put dedicated cycle lanes and shared cycle lanes-footpaths around the roundabout

• remove parking from both sides of Rolleston Drive

• reconstruct the footpaths behind the new kerbs

• pipe short sections of water race on Tennyson Street to allow for the widened intersection

• pave the road with an asphalt surface

• move the streetlight poles back behind the new kerb line

The work is to be done by 30 June 2009. You can look at plans and maps at the Asset Management Desk in the Council’s head office in Norman Kirk Drive (off Rolleston Drive).
