Watch the awesome informative videos on how to make compostable and recyclable kites, harakeke and toetoe kites and paper kites, get the whole family involved and fly your kite at 1pm on Sunday 19 July to celebrate the closing of Matariki celebrations.

Take a photo of your kite, and your family flying it, and the best kite and best family photo flying your kite will win a copy of the book, The Seven Kites of Matariki. Send photos to events@selwyn.govt.nz

Storytimes, star hunt and more at Selwyn Libraries

Join our Matariki storytimes at Lincoln, Rolleston, Darfield, or Leeston, then go on a scavenger hunt around the library to find out the meaning of the nine stars of Matariki.

Make your very own constellation with the Constellation Maker Stations set up in each library.  Punch constellations onto disk cards and take them home. At night put a torch behind them and you can see your own constellation!

Journeys of Manu
