Lakeland Art Gallery

The Ellesmere Art Group Trust was formed as a charitable trust in 1996 by a group of artists who had worked together for many years prior. Since 1996 the group has painted together twice monthly either in local halls or premises. In 2017 a sub-committee of the Trust was formed to open and manage the Lakeland Art Gallery at 80 High Street, Leeston. The gallery is managed by members and friends of the Ellesmere Art Group Trust on a voluntary basis. Many of the volunteers being contributing artists to the gallery.

Main activities and services

Public art gallery with superb selection of art, sculpture and ceramics by local and surrounding districts artists on sale at all times. Weekly painting groups plus Life Drawing classes. Tutored workshop days at various times throughout the year. The gallery has space to display work from emerging artists from within the district and also shows works from established artists from within Selwyn, Ashburton or Christchurch.
