Plains FM is a multi-media facility providing the training and resources for local people to make their own content for broadcast and podcast since 1988. Part-funded by NZ On Air, the station reflects a wide range of interests, topics, concerns, music, issues and successes in a variety of languages as well as English.
Content is by, for and about community groups, service organisations, agencies, children, youth, people with disabilities, elders, and people with stories to share.
Main activities and services
Training in script development and presentation, digital sound editing, live to air presentation and broadcasting, podcasting and off-site recording.
The station provides content to listeners across a wide range of musical genres and topics of interest.

Young people can learn a range of skills for free, while others can engage at low cost.
