PIPS - Pregnancy Infancy Parenting Support

PIPS – Pregnancy Infancy Parenting Support has been supporting Canterbury families, for close to 50 years, by providing practical and emotional support during the first 1,000 days of a baby’s life.

We firmly believe that every family deserves supported parents, thriving babies and to be connected to their community.

By providing a wide range of practical items, PIPS is able to make sure that each family has equipment for play, sleep, nourishment and warmth. We make sure families have what they need for baby to grow, develop and thrive.

Main activities and services

PIPS is more than just a clothing bank. We provide quality pre-loved baby equipment, maternity + infant clothing and emotional support during the early years (0-2 years). Visit us for help or advice with: • Free, non-judgmental pregnancy tests • Clothing + equipment, including bassinet and capsule loans • Safe sleep options such as Pēpi-Pods, Manuka Baby Beds, wahakura and bassinets, plus linen and warm blankets • Modern cloth nappies • Cots, highchairs, prams • A child restraint technician to help install or check your car seat • Free Infant CPR + Choking First Aid courses • A weekly facilitated parenting support group – Bumps + Bubs

Additional Information

We have no criteria for who and when people can access our services. We do not means-test and families have no limit or restrictions on what they can receive from PIPS. PIPS also provides a range of volunteering opportunities from regular sewing, washing and knitting to working with our clients face-to-face and helping to sort our donations. There is never a dull moment at PIPS and volunteering with us provides a range of benefits such as giving back to the local community, reducing social isolation and the opportunity to make some new friends!
