Calling all Selwyn foodies to enter the Great Youth Bake-Off and be in to win awesome prizes.

9 – 23 May

Post a photo on Facebook or Instagram of your best baking using local ingredients – these could be from your garden, a farm gate or from a Selwyn producer. Make sure you note down the recipe and what local ingredient you used.

Use #selwynbake and tag @selwynyouth so we can check out your creation!

Judges will pick the top entries and will invite finalists to bring their creations to Darfield Recreation and Community Centre on Sunday 29 May at 2pm.

French baker, Thomas Holleaux from Ma Petite Bakery in Rolleston will also be running a workshop.

Keen to learn how to whip up a classic French breakfast?

French baker, Thomas from the infamous Ma Petite Bakery in Rolleston, will teach you how to make traditional Pain Perdu or French Toast using ingredients you have at home. Learn how to caramelise the butter and sugar giving an authentic flavour and learn how to make your own Nutella. All while using local ingredients! You will get to sample the food and take home the recipes.

Lily McClure, a Selwyn student studying at Lincoln University, will also share her food journey to help inspire you.

On display will be the creations made as part of the Great Youth Bake-Off.
