The Pines Resource Recovery Park is the Selwyn District's refuse, recycling and composting facility. Located near Rolleston, the facility accepts a comprehensive range of recyclable materials, household hazardous waste, cleanfill, food and garden waste for composting, as well as general waste for items that are currently unable to be recycled.

Location: 183 Burnham School Road

(between Dunns Crossing and Burnham Roads).

Standard Open hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm
  • Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm

Hours can vary at long weekends and at Christmas/New Year/Easter/Anzac Day periods. For holiday hours please check Holiday Collection Times. Please note that the Pines Resource Recovery Park may be closed from time to time without prior notice during high wind events.

We accept the material below for recycling

Whiteware and scrap metal Glass bottles and jars (lids in rubbish)
Plastic bottles and containers 1-7 (lids in rubbish) Steel tins and aluminium cans     
Polystyrene Cardboard (flattened)
Paper, newspaper and magazines Clothing
Waste oil      Paint
CRT TVs: $10 charge (please take to kiosk) Flat screen TVs: $4.50 charge (please take to kiosk)
Child car seats: $5 charge (please take to kiosk) 

Charges (inclusive of GST as at 1 July 2016):

  • Residual waste (rubbish): $224.00 per tonne
  • Garden and food organic waste: $107.00 per tonne
  • Cleanfill: $52.00 per tonne
  • Approved recyclables: no charge
  • Minimum dumping charge: $5.00
  • Tyres:
    • Car: $3.00 ($6.00 if the rims are still attached)
    • 4WD: $5.00
    • Light truck: $8.00
    • Heavy truck: 15.00
    • Tractor: $51.00

We are only able to accept payment by Eftpos and cash. Credit cards and cheques cannot be accepted for payment at the Pines Resource Recovery Park.
