Head on down, have a go and show off your moves!

A great way to introduce children and young people to skating with free gear hire, prizes, music and coaching from experienced skaters from Cheapskates Skate Skool.

This is a relaxed environment which allow participants to give it a go, cheer friends and family on and ease their way into skateboarding! Something for all abilities!


Darfield Skate Park: Wednesday 13 February, 3.30–5.30pm

Tai Tapu School: Wednesday 20 February, 3.30–5.30pm

Glentunnel School: Wednesday 27 February, 3.30–5.30pm

West Melton School: Wednesday 6 March, 3.30–5.30pm

Prebbleton Community Park, Wednesday 13 March, 5.30–7.30pm

Note: Prebbleton Summer Skate/Scooter Jam is combined with the Picnic in the Park.

Lincoln Skate Park: Wednesday 20 March, 3.30–5.30pm

Leeston Skate Park: Wednesday 27 March, 3.30–5.30pm

Rolleston Skate Park: Saturday 30 March,1–3pm

There is a Learn to Skate aspect where participants can hire a skateboard or inline skates as well as safety gear for free and team up with one of Cheapskates Skate Skool friendly instructors and either get some free tips on the basic skills or a helping hand learning some new tricks!

During the evening there will be a fun competition with 2 divisions (enter on the day); 
* 12 years and under
* 13 years and over

This year there is a ‘Jam format’ where 2-3 skaters at a time have a 3-5 minute skate to impress the judges with their tricks. Judges check out your style, creativity and technical ability – don’t let this scare you! Just get out there and do your stuff!
