The Breeze Walking Festival, from 28 September to 13 October, has over 50 walks around Selwyn, Christchurch and Waimakariri.

Join a guided walk through Selwyn’s stunning scenery, see the birdlife and experience our beautiful region.

There are walks for all ages and abilities, from child-friendly strolls to energetic treks, to informative ambles, we've catered for all interests and ages.

The walks have been designed to appeal to those wanting to embrace nature, culture, the arts, history and new developments around Christchurch.

The festival is a chance for all Cantabrians to explore their city and region, and above all to enjoy a social outdoor experience to celebrate the end of winter and the coming of spring.

Harts Creek Sneak Tuesday 1 October 10am–12pm

One of the only places in New Zealand where you will see the muted swan. This walk is rich in birdlife so bring your binoculars and take your time to view swans, pukeko, Canada geese, several species of duck, white heron, pied stilts and more. Rain date Wednesday 2 October; suitable 10yrs+.

Kura Tāwhiti/Castle Hill Treasures Tuesday 8 October 10am–12pm

Walk among the limestone figures of Kura Tāwhiti, or Castle Hill rocks. Explore a majestic walk guided by a DoC ranger, be introduced to the history of Māori pathways through the land, and spectacular flora and fauna. Bring lunch, snacks and water. Rain date Wednesday 9 October.
