Most Selwyn District Council services and facilities will be back to normal under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 conditions from Thursday [14 May], but with some restrictions or reduced services.

Final details of operations and services will be updated on the Council website from Wednesday night – but here are some key points:

The Council’s Rolleston offices will reopen on Thursday and resume normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

Selwyn libraries also reopen from Thursday – initially with reduced hours. Darfield and Leeston Library and Service Centre will be open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, while Lincoln Library and Service Centre and Rolleston Library will be open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Most library programmes will not be operating, but returns slots will be open – so you can return your books.

Selwyn Aquatic Centre reopens on Thursday but with reduced hours and limited programmes – initially just for adult lane swimming and and aqua jogging. From next Monday, 18 May, programmes will be extended to include modified aqua fitness and higher level Learn to Swim programmes, and squad swimming.

Community and recreation centres reopen from Thursday, with reduced hours, and fitness programmes resume gradually from 18 May.

Parks, reserves and playgrounds are available for use from Thursday, but users are reminded to ensure they practice safe distancing. People using playground equipment are encouraged to wash or sanitise their hands before and after use.

Building consents processing and building inspections will resume as normal.

Customers planning to visit our offices or service centres are asked to note the following health and safety requirements:

  • Numbers of people entering the building may be limited – this is to help manage safe distancing
  • All visitors must sign-in on entry for contact tracing purposes

Customers are also asked to consider delaying their visit to the Council offices for a few days, especially for non-urgent enquiries, while staff settle in to new systems and routines.

People can also use online services or contact us by phone, 0800 SELWYN (735996) or email contactus@selwyn.govt.nz or via the Council website or on the Snap Send Solve app.
