Do I need to have a geotechnical engineer carry out a site investigation for my pool?
A geotechnical investigation may not be necessary depending on the type of pool being installed, as it is simply not possible to prevent deformation of many pool structures during a seismic event. The structural engineer who designed the pool will be able to advise you further on this matter. If you already have a geotechnical investigation carried out on the site for a new home or the like, it can provide us with helpful information, so please include it with you application.
Other considerations: Check with your insurance company - will your policy cover the replacement or repair of the pool in an event?
