Plan Change 6 (Rural Volume) made changes to the lowest slopes of the Port Hills to help protect the outstanding natural landscape from potential negative impacts of future development and other land use activities. You can read all documents and the background information.

The Port Hills are classified as an area of Outstanding Natural Landscape which means that they need to be protected from inappropriate subdivision, use and development according to Section 6(b) of the Resource Management Act 1991.
