Mayoral Relief Fund
Selwyn residents who suffered hardship or damage to their property during the May 2021 severe flooding event can apply to the Council for financial support.
The Mayoral Relief Fund is available for Selwyn residents who have not been able to access other support such as insurance or government funding.
A funds allocation panel, including Mayor Sam Broughton and Selwyn Recovery Manager Al Lawn, will assess the applications and allocate funding. The fund will close once the total has been allocated.

Criteria
In order to be eligible for the Mayoral Relief Fund:
a. You must have experienced financial hardship as a result of the May 2021 flood event in Selwyn
b. You must have been resident in Selwyn district on 28 May 2021;
c. You must be at least 16 years old;
d. Only one application will be considered for each household You may be asked to provide evidence that the assistance you are applying for relates to financial hardship incurred as a result of the May 2021 flood event.
Amounts
Where an application is successful, the amount granted will be decided by Mayoral Relief Funding Allocations Panel.
Means of payment
Grants will be paid directly into a bank account in the name of the applicant.
