Other Water Notices

Temporary chlorination of Arthurs Pass water supply

4 September: A temporary low-dose chlorine treatment is to be added to the Arthurs Pass water supply reservoir over the next week, as a follow up action to the Precautionary Boil Water Notice issued 4 September

The Council is taking this step to ensure the safety of the water supply after an E.coli was detected within the system during routine testing. The temporary chlorination treatment will start on Friday, 4 September and will cease by Friday, 11 September 2020.

Residents do not need to boil water.

Temporary chlorination of West Melton water supply

21 April: A precautionary low-dose chlorine treatment is being temporarily added to the West Melton water supply as background total coliforms were detected within a reservoir during routine testing. The low-dose chlorine treatment is precautionary only, and no E.coli has been detected within the water supply. We are currently assessing the COVID-19 restrictions and what impact this has on undertaking remedial works.  As soon as is safely practicable to do so, investigation and remediation works will be undertaken.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Residents do not need to boil water.

Temporary chlorination of Dunsandel water supply

21 April: As a precautionary measure low-dose chlorination will be continued on the Dunsandel water supply.  We are currently assessing the COVID-19 restrictions and what impact this has on undertaking remedial works to the Dunsandel reservoir.  As soon as is safe and practicable to do so, investigation and remediation works will continue.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Residents do not need to boil water.

Water Shutdowns

  • During an emergency water shutdown, our contractor may not have time to door-knock as they want to give all their attention to getting water restored as soon as possible. We understand that this can be inconvenient, but rest assured we are working as quickly as possible to restore your water supply.
  • Before a planned water shutdown occurs, our contractor organise a letter drop to all affected properties at least 48 hours before the water is shut down. They will work as quickly as possible to restore your water supply.
