Regular bacterial testing

  • All our Water Supply schemes are monitored and tested on a regular basis for the presence of bacteria.
  • The NZ Drinking Water standards specify: maximum amounts of substances, organisms, contaminants and residues that may be present in drinking water; criteria for demonstrating compliance with standards; remedial action to be taken in the event of non-compliance with standards.
  • Over 400 samples are taken on a weekly basis and sent to the lab for testing.
  • The water is tested for the following parameters:

Total Coliforms

MPN(**)

None specified

Ecoli (post treatment)

MPN

(**) – Mean Probable Number

  • The results for E-coli normally take a 24 hour turnaround time.

Annual full chemical testing

  • Every year our water sources are also tested for the parameters as noted below. Our tests results are a reflection that the water supply communities generally have access to high quality water.
