At the CAB we try to help people to know and understand their rights and obligations and how to use this information to get the best outcomes, provide people with the confidence and support they need to take action, and work for positive social change within communities and wider society. We provide a free and independent service to all. We cover Christchurch and Selwyn districts .

Main activities and services

Our service is professional and confidential. If you need us to speak to someone on your behalf, we can do that too. We will answer your questions if you come in to see us at our branch, or by phone or email. We can help with issues ranging from tenancy and flatting problems , employment , budgeting , neighbour disputes to family problems . If you are not sure ask us. We run a monthly drop in service at Te Ara Atea in Rolleston , currently on the first Tuesday of the month ,from 10am - 1pm so pop in and see us.

Legal clinics* Free Legal Advice Clinic - Thursday evenings from 6.15pm (15 min per person) Free legal immigration clinic* Justice of the Peace* Clinics - Mondays and Thursdays 9.30am - 12.30pm (10 min per person) ACC free advice clinic* on a Thursday.
