We're engaging with our youth and aged residents extensively in a range of different ways to understand what was important to them and their priorities. Interestingly, we found that many of these aligned, presenting significant opportunities for economic and community development.

Youth Engagement

Group with Mayor

We are employing a multifaceted approach, visiting schools and community events, inviting our youth to share their thoughts verbally or through written postcard surveys. Our aim was to understand their needs for living fulfilling lives in a safe, welcoming, and accessible community.

Focus groups in February 2024 will provide additional opportunities to participate. Additionally, we harnessed the power of digital platforms to engage with the tech-savvy younger generation. Social media campaigns, and online forums are proactively seeking insights into what our youth need to live well and celebrate our vibrant youth voice.

Ageing Engagement

Valuing the experience and wisdom of our ageing population, we are also implementing a multifaceted engagement approach. This has involved connecting with our community at the seniors' lifestyle expo SWELL, disseminating our Ageing Well survey through various networks, residential homes, council facilities, and services, as well as on social and print media.

In February 2024, public focus groups will convene, and our Edge Connector will visit rural communities in January and February 2024. Actively seeking insights, our goal is to create an age-friendly community that not only addresses the needs of ageing in place but also celebrates the valuable contributions of people as they age.
