The Council manages the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, and the following community pools.

Darfield Swimming Pool

This pool is a fully lifeguarded pool and operates Show Weekend (18 November 2023) to 10 March 2024 (weather dependent).

  • 1 outdoor:  25m x 9m x 1.0-1.85m
  • 2 indoor: Learner’s pool and toddler splash deck with water features
  • 3m hydro slide
  • Water bomb platform
  • Water play area
    All pools are heated.

Children under 5 years of age must be within arm's reach of a caregiver 16 years or over. Children under 8 years of age must be actively supervised by a caregiver.

Pool hours

During school term:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 7am–7pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 3.30–7pm

School holidays and public holidays: 
Monday to Sunday: 1–7pm
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Lane swimming only 7–8am

Pool closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Pool closes at 6pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Sheffield Memorial Pool

2 outdoor pools:

  • Lane pool 21m x 9m, depth 1.0m – 2.3m
  • Paddling pool 6m x 2m
    Diving board and new change facilities on site.

Pool hours

Monday–Friday: 3.30–7pm (during school term)
Monday–Sunday: 2–6pm (during school holidays, weekends and public holidays)

Pool closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and 2 January.

  • Hydroslide – minimum age 8 years
    New change facility.

Monday–Sunday: 1–7pm (during school holidays, weekends and public holidays)

Pool closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Pool closes at 6pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
(Closed Mondays and Tuesdays for Swim Club use during February and March.)

This pool is NOT lifeguarded and operates from December (18 December 2023) to 10 March 2024 for those with season access keys.

This pool is suitable for families with primary and pre-school children only.
1 outdoor pool:  13m x 5m, depth 0.8m to 1.0m.

Pool hours

Monday–Friday: 3.30–7pm (during school term)
Monday–Sunday: 10am–7pm (during school holidays, weekends and public holidays)

Family swim access keys for the season can be purchased from the Leeston Library and Service Centre. Seasonal swimming costs $35. Replacement cards are $10. ($10 reduction for the following season if the card is returned at the end of this season).

Children under 14 years of age must be actively supervised by an adult.

Killinchy Pool

This pool is NOT lifeguarded and for those with season access keys. Opening mid December until10 March 2024.

Pool hours

Monday–Friday: 3.30–6.30pm (during school term)
Monday–Sunday: 11am–8pm (during school holidays, weekends and public holidays)

Family swim access keys for the season can be purchased from the Leeston Library and Service Centre. Seasonal swimming costs $40. Replacement cards are $10. ($10 reduction for the following season if the card is returned at the end of this season).
