About the private plan change

On 17 December 2020 Marama Te Wai Limited lodged a private plan change request (PC77) to rezone approximately 12.5 ha of land on the western side of the West Melton township, bounded by West Coast Road and Preston Downs from Rural (Inner Plains) to residential land. The projected yield is 218 retirement village units and a caretaker’s residence.

Update 17 July 2023 – Process suspended at applicant’s request

At the request of the applicant, Council suspended processing of this plan change request on 17 July 2023. A decision on whether the plan change request will be recommenced or withdrawn will be made in due course.

Update 27 March 2023 - Submissions Received

79 submissions were received in relation to PC77 and can be viewed online at Summit Up.
The summary of submissions, and the period for further submissions, will be notified in due course.

Update 23 March 2023 -Submissions Closed

Public submissions on Plan Change 73 closed at 5pm on Wednesday 22 March 2023. The submissions will be made publicly available in due course. Once submissions have been summarised, the period for further submissions will be notified.

Update 22 February 2023- Public Notification

Private Plan Change 77 was accepted for notification at Council’s meeting on 8 February 2023.

The Plan Change was publicly notified in the Selwyn Times newspaper on 22 February 2023.

Any person may make a submission in support of or opposition to the plan change, or any part of it. Submissions close at 5pm Wednesday 22 March 2023.

Update 23 June 2022

In response to the Council’s request for further information dated 27 April 2021, the following amended application was received on 16 June 2022. The amended application is currently being reviewed to ensure the information is adequate for public notification. Once this has been completed and any required information received it will be taken to Council to be considered for notification. If Council decides to accept the Plan Change it will be publicly notified and opened to submissions.

In response to Council request dated 27 April 2021, the following partial response was received on 28 October 2021.

Some matters raised in the request have not yet been addressed, and so the application is not yet complete. Once the request is complete it will be taken to Council to be considered for notification. If Council decides to accept the Plan Change it will be publicly notified and opened to submission.
