While Selwyn District Council is not the decision-maker under the Government's Fast Track Approvals Act 2024, it plays an important role in providing local knowledge and technical advice during the assessment process.

This page outlines the Council's role in the Fast Track process and the fast track applications for Selwyn. 

The Fast Track process has two steps.

1. An application for referral to the Fast Track process

2.  A substantive application for the approvals needed.

Applications for Fast Track projects in Selwyn

Under section 11 of the Fast Track Approvals Act (FTAA) applicants are required to give notice to the Council of their intention to apply for referral of their development projects under the FTAA andprovide the Council an opportunity to respond, which may include detail of issues or constraints that may affect the application for referral, or matters that will need to be addressed through any future substantive applications for resource consents made under the FTAA.
