Application form to form a vehicle crossing

All applications will follow a specific process.


Properties without a VX license will have the following LIM note:
We do not currently hold a compliant vehicle crossing application for this property. Vehicle Crossings - Any new or upgraded vehicle crossing requires approval from Council's Infrastructure and Property Department prior to installation. Applications to install a new vehicle crossing or upgrade an existing one can be made online via the SDC website (Selwyn District Council - Application to Form a Vehicle Crossing (Entranceway)). For any questions regarding the process please contact the VX team via email at entranceways@selwyn.govt.nz for more info. NB Council will not maintain a Vehicle Entranceway that has not followed due process.

Your permit is valid for 12 months with your vehicle crossing to be completed within that period.

It is the property owner's responsibility to arrange and pay for the construction of a vehicle crossing.

Residential/Rural Vehicle Crossing Fee $185.00 (incl. GST)

Commercial/Heavy Duty Vehicle Crossing Fee $370.00 (incl. GST)

Retrospective Applications $210.00 (incl. GST)

Non Compliant Vehicle Crossing Inspection Fee $155.00 (incl. GST)

Please provide construction drawings that clearly indicate the following details:1. The location and width of the proposed vehicle crossing. 2. The distances to the nearest vehicle crossings on the same side of the road. 3. The location of any existing trees, poles, and water services situated within the property boundary. 4. Where applicable (e.g., when adjacent vehicle crossings have not yet been formed), please also show the distance to neighbouring property boundaries and, if located on a corner site, the distance to the nearest intersection. Kindly ensure the plans are accurate and up to date to assist with our assessment process.

Declaration

  • I will construct a vehicle crossing (entranceway) that complies with any Resource Consent and meets Council specifications from the formed roadway to my property. Between the initial construction and final surfacing of the vehicle crossing, the crossing will be kept in good condition to allow for the safe passage of pedestrians.
  • I note that stamped concrete, coloured concrete, cobbles and non-standard paving blocks are NOT permitted.
  • I understand that all costs are the responsibility of the property owner and that a vehicle crossing that does not meet Council specifications will be upgraded at the property owner's cost.
  • I understand that I will be responsible for the costs associated with any repair work required as a result of settlement or poor workmanship during a 24-month period of maintenance.
  • Prior to construction, a Corridor access request will be applied for. Works will not commence until this has been approved.
