Access to the Pines Resource Recovery Park is subject to the following terms and conditions.

Definitions:

  • “Facility” means The Pines Resource Recovery Park.
  • “Staff” means any full-time, part-time or casual person engaged by Corde Ltd or Selwyn District Council that is present on site to conduct work for the Pines Resource Recovery Park, or a Selwyn District Council Solid Waste Team member.
  • “Visitor” means any person who enters the Pines Resource Recovery Park at any time for any reason.
  • “Waste Material” means any item disposed of or discarded including but not limited to general refuse, hazardous waste, organic material, recyclable or reusable items or material.

Visitors enter this Facility at their own risk and by entering choose to do so under these Terms and Conditions. No liability for loss, injury or damage to persons or possessions will be accepted by Corde Ltd or Selwyn District Council.

  1. Visitors at all times:
    1. shall comply with the Selwyn District Council Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw.
    2. shall comply with all signage displayed at the Facility and any instructions from Staff.
  2. Visitors acknowledge and understand that the Facility is a working transfer station with numerous hazards and may not enter restricted areas, unless authorised to do so by Staff. Restricted areas include, but are not limited to:
    1. the operational area of the refuse disposal pit;
    2. the operational area of the recycling canopy (behind the yellow chains);
    3. Staff offices, toilets or kitchen areas;
    4. the weighbridge kiosk;
    5. the operational access road behind the organic waste and refuse disposal area; and
    6. any other area indicated by signage or Staff at the Facility (at any time).
  3. Children must be supervised at all times by a Parent and/or Legal Guardian. Children under the age of 12 should remain in vehicles at the organic and rubbish tipping areas of the Facility.
  4. Visitors are responsible for their own personal property (including vehicles) and assume risk for any damage, loss or personal injury.
  5. No Visitor shall:
    1. deposit or dispose of any Waste Material that does not comply with acceptance criteria as specified on the Selwyn District Council website, by signage onsite, or unless authorised to do so by Staff; and
    2. deposit or dispose of any type or class of Waste Material at any location which has been marked off and designated for the depositing or disposal of a different type or class of Waste Material.
  6. No Visitor shall:
    1. enter the Facility except on business associated with this Facility; or
    2. enter the Facility outside of normal operating hours without authorisation from Staff; or
    3. move or remove any Waste Material or any other article or item found at the Facility without the express permission of Staff, unless it is obtained legitimately from the recycle or reuse shop; or
    4. solicit or attempt to exchange, gift or trade any Waste Material at the Facility outside of authorised activities.
  7. Any Waste Material that is deposited at the Facility will become property of Selwyn District Council once any fee for the disposal is paid (if relevant) or the Waste Material is otherwise accepted by Staff.
  8. It is the responsibility of Visitors to remove any personal or identifiable information contained within any Waste Material, including but not limited to electronic waste such as phones, computers or other devices deposited or disposed of at the Facility.
  9. Visitors acknowledge and accept by entering the site, that the Facility is monitored at all times by CCTV (closed circuit television) for security and safety purposes. Any recording, photograph or audio obtained via CCTV recording shall be stored, viewed and otherwise managed within the provisions of the Privacy Act 2020.
  10. Should a Visitor require medical assistance, or observe someone requiring medical assistance, please bring this to a Staff member’s attention immediately. Staff reserve the right to contact Emergency Services if it is deemed by Staff to be appropriate in the situation.
  11. Staff maintain the right to deny entry to, or remove Visitors from, the Facility for failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions of Entry; engaging in unsafe activity, engaging in criminal activity; verbally or physically harassing Staff or other Visitors and/or failure to observe directions or instructions from Staff or any signage.
