Global Bus Ventures was the winner of the 2021 Selwyn Awards for Business Resilience AND Environment and Sustainability. With over 35 years of progressive success, being formally recognised for all of their hard work and dedication was a huge honour for the team.

This is a company that has long been recognised as going the extra mile with their customers to ensure an experience worth remembering. Their products are high-quality and their united goal is to manufacture the best possible coaches and buses that are kind to the environment.
As the last complete vehicle manufacturer in New Zealand, Global Bus Ventures found its humble beginnings in 1985. Starting from only four employees, the company now proudly supports more than 300 workers in its supply chain. A big achievement for any company!
The motivation behind applying for the Selwyn Awards was to draw attention to what Global Bus Ventures is capable of achieving here in Aotearoa. They believe there is no limit to successfully implementing new ideas and creating a sustainable for future generations.
With a dynamic team that is made up of the majority of trades, from electricians to welders, painters to refrigeration engineers, mechanics to even some aircraft engineers, they are constantly working hard to come up with new and innovative ways to build better coaches and buses that are environmentally friendly.
And with such a can-do attitude, it is no surprise that they have had some fantastic successes in the buses they have released and manufactured.
After the Hydrogen Bus release in 2021 they have continued their advancements in the Hydrogen field by working with Emirates Team New Zealand to develop the world’s first Hydrogen powered Chase Boat, which launched earlier this year. They are incredibly proud of being at the forefront of such incredible technology, representing not only Selwyn but also Aotearoa in such an accomplishment.
Winning the award has attracted even more interest in the Hydrogen integration. Selwyn itself offers a lot for manufacturing and sustainable/environmental protection businesses, winning awards has done wonders for setting Global Bus Ventures’ name on a pedestal. And it is no doubt that their high-quality reputation and credibility was what earned them a spot as the chosen Emirates Team NZ Hydrogen Chase Boat!
Global Bus Ventures continue their dedication to a greener Aotearoa by developing adaptive and efficient technology on their Hydrogen and Electric Builds. With the desire to eliminate carbon emissions and the detrimental effect on natural resources, this is a company we are proud to call Selwyn based.
