Council's Monitoring Strategy identifies the priorities for monitoring of the various strategies, plans and actions that Council has adopted.

Monitoring of District Plan Provisions and State of the Environment

Background

Council is required to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of its District Plan provisions and to monitor the State of the Environment in its District.

The purpose of this monitoring is to check that the policies and methods in the District Plan result in the anticipated environmental outcomes.

Monitoring provides information to understand the current state of the environment, key pressures on the environment and provides a baseline to assess future changes against.

The outcome from the monitoring process provides the Council and community the opportunity to respond to any issues identified and provide the information to make robust and defensible policies, decisions and responses to address these issues

The Project

We are reviewing our monitoring strategy to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the existing framework and to determine opportunities for improving our approach to monitoring.
