Social Sport

Social sport is a great way to meet new people, have some fun and get some physical activity! If you're interested in a sport or programme we do not currently offer, send us an email at sports.centre@selwyn.govt.nz because we'd love to hear your ideas.

Selwyn Striders

Join the Selwyn Sports Centre every Monday, 10am - 11am, for our indoor walking group.  You'll be walking and chatting with your peers around our 240m walking track which include some spectacular views.  You'll also be guided through some light exercises along the way with tea, coffee and biscuits to enjoy when you're finished.  $3 pp or $2 pp for Gold Card holders.  No bookings required.

Pickleball

Sundays, 10am–12pm, new players/beginners
Join us each Sunday morning for Pickleball open play. This session is intended for new players / beginners and those who wish to have-a-go. Ideal for families and kids. Come along and try it out!

Fridays, 1–3pm, social drop-in and play
This social play session is for anyone wanting to try something new as well as those who know the game and want to play in a friendly and social environment. If you are new, there will always be someone there to help you. Pickleball is perfect for a little bit of fitness and wellbeing in your life.

Basketball

The Selwyn Hawks have introduced an adult social league on Thursday nights. You can register in a team or as an individual. Check out Selwyn Hawks Basketball for more information, including how to register and pricing.

Futsal

Selwyn United Football Club, alongside Mainland Football, have their first social futsal league coming to the centre! Friday nights from 4pm, there will be rounds based on age starting at seven years old and finishing with a round for those aged 16+. Keep an eye on their Facebook page and their website for more information on pricing and how to register.

Volleyball
