Social sport is a great way to meet new people, have some fun and get some physical activity! If you're interested in a sport or programme we do not currently offer, send us an email at sports.centre@selwyn.govt.nz because we'd love to hear your ideas.

Selwyn Striders

Join the Selwyn Sports Centre every Monday, 10am - 11am, for our indoor walking group.  You'll be walking and chatting with your peers around our 240m walking track which include some spectacular views.  You'll also be guided through some light exercises along the way with tea, coffee and biscuits to enjoy when you're finished.  $3 pp or $2 pp for Gold Card holders.  No bookings required.

Pickleball GamePickleball

Sundays, 10am–12pm, new players/beginners
Join us each Sunday morning for Pickleball open play. This session is intended for new players / beginners and those who wish to have-a-go. Ideal for families and kids. Come along and try it out!

Mondays, 6–7pm, beginners/drills
Join us each Monday night for beginners / drills. If you are new to Pickleball this is a further opportunity to give it a go and get started on your journey. Work on your skills to improve your game and level.

Mondays, 7–9pm
This general play session is intended for those that can score, know how to play and can play. Games will be structured. All levels are welcome, but complete beginners should continue to use Sundays and Monday 6pm - 7pm to 'give it a go' especially if haven't played a racquet sport before.

BasketballSelwyn Hawks Social Basketball Game

Futsal

Futsal GameSelwyn United Football Club, alongside Mainland Football, have their first social futsal league coming to the centre! Friday nights from 4pm, there will be rounds based on age starting at seven years old and finishing with a round for those aged 16+. Keep an eye on their Facebook page and their website for more information on pricing and how to register.

Volleyball

Social VolleyballCanterbury Volleyball Association will resume running a winter social league on Tuesday nights in 2023! For more information on pricing and how to register, visit their website.

Netball
