What are Minor Aspect Supplies?
Minor aspect supplies are small-scale, local water supply and wastewater services provided at Council-owned or community facilities.
These services:
- Support sites that are not connected to the main reticulated network, and
- Are typically standalone systems designed for local use
They are separate from the reticulated drinking water and wastewater services managed by Selwyn Water Limited.
Where Minor Aspect Supplies are Used
You may find these systems at some of our:
- Camping grounds and freedom camping areas
- Public toilets and amenity buildings
- Parks and reserves
- Community halls and recreation facilities
- Sports clubs and swimming pools
How These Services Are Managed
Selwyn District Council:
- Operates and maintains these systems
- Ensures they meet relevant health and environmental standards
- Funds these services through the Annual Plan and Long-Term Plan
- Monitors performance and upgrades infrastructure when required
Relationship to Selwyn Water Limited
From 2025, reticulated public drinking water and wastewater services were transferred to Selwyn Water Limited.
Outside of the reticulated networks, minor aspect supplies:
- Remain the responsibility of Council, and
- Cover local or site-specific systems not part of the wider reticulated networks managed by Selwyn Water Limited
