Counsellor, Registered with NZAC, PgDipEd (Counselling)
I have been counselling since 2009 and this expanded to include working in private practice in 2015, seeing a variety of people of all ages. I also have offered professional supervision since 2018. Until the end of 2017, I worked as a counsellor full-time in secondary schools, including a role as Head of Guidance, and I still work 2 days a week in a secondary school context.
I have experience in supporting people through a wide range of issues and have a particular interest in grief and loss, transition and change, identity, challenges around relationships, unhealthy and abusive relationships, depression and anxiety. I work with people of all ages.
What Makes us different
For many reasons in life, either internal (such as anxiety or depression) or external (grief & loss, change and transition, unhealthy relationships), we find ourselves feeling lost, stuck or overwhelmed. I see my role as someone who will walk alongside you, helping you map out your situation so you can see it more clearly. Then you can find your way to where you want to be. I have many tools in my toolkit that I can introduce you to, that can help you find a path that works for you. With clarity, we are then able to collaborate to find the right approach to help you make a way forward in your situation. It might be helping you find ways to make meaning of your life in the midst of loss, or it could be developing understandings and strategies that work for you in order to gain freedom from anxiety or depression. I have worked with a wide range of people, circumstances and challenges they are facing. My goal is to help you achieve your hoped-for outcomes in counselling. My work is shaped by several counselling modalities including Person Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Narrative ideas, as well as the use of Sand Tray alongside them. I am also anchored in my practice by the values and ethical standards of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, of which I am a Registered Member.Core Products and Services
I work with individuals and families of all ages. I offer: Counselling Supervision My office is based in Tai Tapu in Selwyn District 25 minutes from the Christchurch CBD and easily accessible from South West Christchurch. I work online over video calling comfortably for anyone that prefers that option.
