Woman in front of shrubbery

By Charlotte Mulder

Daniela Jolly embarked on an extraordinary journey when she first arrived in New Zealand thirteen years ago, with dreams of a fresh lifestyle and the aspiration to hone her skills as a social worker. Little did she know that just two weeks into her Kiwi adventure, she would find herself thrust into the heart of the devastating 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.

In this compelling podcast, Daniela vividly describes the challenges she encountered during that period, alongside the profound sense of fulfillment that eventually unfolded.

While many of her peers contemplated abandoning the city, Daniela chose to stand firm and unite with her community in the task of rebuilding Christchurch.

Today, she resides in the tranquil surroundings of Selwyn, sharing her life with a loving husband and two cherished children. Selwyn, with its scenic beauty and warm-hearted community, reminds her of her Argentinean hometown.

Daniela's life in New Zealand has been a colorful blend of traditions and celebrations from both her native and adopted cultures, from commemorating the Three Wise Men to celebrating the exhilarating FIFA World Cup and Independence Day.

Her story is a living testament to the age-old adage that "everything happens for a reason."

Had she not embraced that fateful second chance, Daniela would have never experienced the incredible life she cherishes today.
