Proposed District Plan

On 16 August 2023, the Council accepted all recommendations of the Proposed District Plan Hearing Panel. It also accepted or rejected submissions, as recommended by the Proposed District Plan Hearing Panel. The Council accepted the recommendations of the Proposed District Plan Hearing Panel on all Notices of Requirements to the Proposed District Plan at the same meeting.

Erratum to Proposed Selwyn District Plan Public Notice

The decision reports on submissions, further submissions and amendments to the Proposed Plan and Planning Maps, and the reasons for the decisions can be found in our online ‘Summit Up’ database and on the individual hearing topic pages.

The period for making appeals to the Environment Court closed at 5pm, 6 October 2023. Please refer to the Appeals webpage for next steps.

The notified version of the Proposed Plan has now been superseded by the ‘Decisions Version’ of the Plan, where all provisions have legal effect.

Intensification Planning Instrument (Variation 1)

On 16 August 2023, the Council accepted all recommendations from the Independent Hearing Panel on submissions and further submissions on its Intensification Planning Instrument:

  1. Variation 1 to the Proposed District Plan (Part A of the Intensification Planning Instrument); and
  2. Variation 1 to Private Plan Changes 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 75, 76 and 78 to the Operative Selwyn District Plan (Part B of the Intensification Planning Instrument).

The decision reports on submissions and further submissions, and amendments to the Proposed District Plan, Planning Maps and Private Plan Changes 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 75, 76 and 78 to the Operative Selwyn District Plan can be found in our online 'Summit Up' database and on each of the individual hearing topic pages and private plan change pages, where relevant.

There is no right of appeal to the Environment Court against any decision of the Council on the Intensification Planning Instrument.

Those parts of the Proposed District Plan that have been modified by the Council's Intensification Planning Instrument to incorporate medium density residential standards (Variation 1) are operative from 28 August 2023.
