Strategy Teams
Strategy Teams
Our Strategy teams guide the development and implementation of plans such as Waikirikiri Ki Tua Future Selwyn, which outlines strategic outcomes and priorities for the district’s development. The following teams work within the Strategy space.
Strategy
The Strategy team helps develop and deliver Council strategies, working closely with the Project Manager: Strategic Delivery. Their work includes research, monitoring and population and growth modelling. They also oversee submissions made by council, along with the Policy team. You can find more information about the council’s current Strategies & Plans here and can engage with us and provide feedback on Council's plans here.
Environment
The Environmental team is involved in developing and implementing plans to reduce the council’s environmental impact, and implementing environmental initiatives that support biodiversity and climate change resilience. They are also involved in strategic planning for public open spaces such as reserves. You can find more information about our environmental strategies and current projects here.
Performance
The Performance team focuses on the day-to-day execution of strategies, the “how” to the “what and why”. They lead performance reporting ensuring projects are on track, along with planning and project delivery. This includes leading the development of Annual Plans and Reports.
Transport
Infrastructure is a critical component of being able to deliver on long-term goals. The Transport team focuses on developing long-term transport plans, planning initiatives for land transport, and engaging with other stakeholders such as the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.
Urban Design
The Urban Design team is involved in developing and implementing plans to guide urban development and public space design so that development has a positive social, economic and environmental outcome. They have produced guides, along with the Policy team, summarising the principles and outcomes for urban design. You can access the guides and find out more about what the team does here.
