Izone entranceway

Izone is an award-winning industrial and business zone on the northern edge of Rolleston. It is currently home to more than 120 companies involved mostly in manufacturing, contracting, warehousing and logistics, and servicing Canterbury’s significant agricultural sector.

Selwyn District Council (SDC) funded Izone’s development with a plan to grow a strong industry base in Rolleston. This has provided employment opportunities to local residents, helped reduce the number of commuters needing to drive to Christchurch for work, and generated a financial return that offset rating requirements. Helping quake-affected Canterbury businesses remain in the region was a validation of Izone’s development strategy.

Covering 188 hectares, the fully master-planned, greenfield site was developed and zoned by Selwyn District Council to house companies involved mostly in manufacturing, contracting, warehousing and logistics, and servicing Canterbury’s significant agricultural sector.

Taking a best practice approach to industrial infrastructure, the Izone development includes:

  • Wide roads and carefully designed traffic management systems
  • A network of walkways, native plantings, landscaping and attractive communal areas
  • Reticulated gas available to all lot boundaries
  • Its own rail sidings.

Businesses committed to Izone due to its state-of-the-art infrastructure, pivotal location and stable alluvial soils.

Izone is situated on State Highway 1, at the junction of the South Island’s two main rail lines just 12 minutes from Christchurch’s Hornby industrial area; 20 minutes drive from Christchurch International Airport and 40 minutes from the Port of Lyttelton.

When Council owned Izone properties are available for sale or lease marketing will be via a licensed Real Estate company.
