Roadside Spraying Programme
Selwyn District Council undertakes roadside spraying throughout the year to manage vegetation along road frontages.
This work is carried out by our maintenance contractor HEB and is essential for maintaining road safety and infrastructure.
Why we spray
Roadside vegetation can:
- Obstruct visibility of traffic signs and intersections.
- Block culverts, manholes, and gutters, increasing flood risk.
- Damage kerbs, footpaths, and guardrails.
- Create hazards for pedestrians, especially those who are disabled or sight impaired.
All spraying is conducted under the Council’s Resource Consent CRC201738.

We appreciate the efforts of residents who maintain their own frontages, reducing the need for chemical spraying. Your cooperation helps us keep our district safe, clean, and environmentally responsible.
