Work notices
This page provides the latest stormwater notices affecting residents and businesses across the district.
From April 28th - 5th May Downer will be making upgrades to a stormwater system located adjacent to a water race on State Highway 1 near Kirk/Trents Road in Templeton.
Because the upgrade is taking place close to the water race, a temporary diversion of the race will be required. As a result, users downstream of State Highway 1 through Prebbleton may experience low flows or fluctuations in water levels during the period between April 28th - 5th May.
We acknowledge the short notice and appreciate the community’s understanding while this essential work is carried out.
For more information about this work please contact Laura McChensey from Downer at canterburyenquiries@downer.co.nz

Works Notice: Te Whāriki Waterway Enhancement Works
We will be carrying out routine maintenance on the Te Whāriki subdivision stormwater network near your property, from March 23 until the end of May.
Our contractor CORDE will be working in Lincoln to clean out the ponds and waterways and remove built up silt, vegetation and debris that has collected over time. This is necessary to reduce the risk of flooding.
This routine maintenance clears the channels so that they can carry more water and allow it to flow more freely, reducing the risk of flooding.
The work will be completed in stages.
Stage 1: Vegetation and Debris removal
Stage 2: Silt Removal/Desludging
The Stage 2 works will be undertaken from 2027 and may further be staged over a couple of summers. This is due to the team not wanting to disturb the waterways in one season.
The work is intended to be done by hand as far as practicable. When this isn’t possible, diggers will be used.
The vegetation removed will be piled at convenient locations next to the basins or surface waterways where they have been removed. No odour is anticipated as part of these works.
Vegetation will be temporarily placed next to the waterways to drain before being collected. This is standard practice and allows contractors to safely and efficiently remove the material. The debris will be cleared within 4-7 days.
Driveway and Pedestrian Access
Work will begin at around 7am and the team aim to be completed on site by 5pm, Monday to Friday.
