Your certificate of acceptance, when issued, will include general information, as well as specific details of

  • building work covered by the certificate, and
  • work inspected.

It will be accompanied by the compliance schedule for the building (if relevant).

The certificate will cover some or all of the building work that we have reasonable grounds to believe complies with the building code but may be qualified to say that we have not been able to inspect some or all of the building work. This is because a territorial authority’s liability is limited to the extend that the territorial authority was able to inspect the building work.

If there is work that we do not believe complies, or we do not have enough evidence of compliance, we may discuss with you changing the scope of work that is covered by the certificate.

We may also issue you with a notice to fix that will require you to rectify any non-compliant building work.
