Processing Your Application
Our team will carry out a desktop assessment, followed by an inspection of the building work.
We have 20 working days to process your application.
As part of that process
- we will consider all information that is available to us in order to decide whether we can be satisfied that the work complies with the building code*, and communicate with you to request clarifications or further information if required, with the statutory clock stopped until we receive all information requested.
*Note: compliance is based on the building code at the time the application is made, not what was in place at the time the work was carried out.
Also note that our planning team will assess your application to determine
- if a resource consent is required, and
- if development contributions are payable.
What is on a certificate of acceptance
A comprehensive checklist will be completed, noting decisions about each relevant building code clause, and any qualifications that may be appropriate. This leads to a recommendation and final decision made on whether to issue or refuse to issue the certificate of acceptance.
The decision made is released to you when all fees have been paid.
